Welcome to the Blue Gecko Art Studio, an artistic workspace based in Maitland, on the outskirts of the creative hub of Salt River and Woodstock in Cape Town, South Africa.
Our studio offers professional art studios providing a creative haven for our in-house artists. Including painting facilities, two kitchen nooks, a dedicated workspace that aritsts can book for workshops, and a communal space that together create the ideal environment to ignite and support your artistic practice. The space also offers workshops, private events and art exhibitions led by experienced art instructor and studio owner Monica Blignaut.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Monica Blignaut is a South African artist and businesswoman. She is the founder of the Blue Gecko Art studio based in the heart of Cape Town.
Her creative process has led her across film-making, painting, sculpture, installation and public art. She is now focused on creating a platform and art warehouse that celebrates contemporary African art.
This includes art journalism, the behind-the-scenes of being an artist, working with local schools and more.
Monica's art is a reflection of her experiences, documenting the world around her and sharing her perspective through each brushstroke.
She is inspired by artistic entrepreneurs like Carrol Boyes, Andy Warhol, and Salvador Dali, whom all looked at art as both a form of expression and how it interlinks with business.
