One of the big reasons why the studio leases are month-to-month is to support our artists. The fact is that the creative paths of each artist's career and journey are unique. Be it for art residencies, travel and other opportunities the space is constantly changing and evolving.

Monica Blignaut
Monica Blignaut (b1994) is a South African multidisciplinary artist who creates paintings, sculptures and installation art. Monica’s paintings she uses broken-colour techniques using the ability of the eye and mind of the viewer to blend the brush strokes optically to create different visual experiences.
She plays with colour theory and experiments away traditional divisionism sometimes using monochromatic colour schemes with vibrant accent colours.
he looks at the world through a painterly gaze drawing inspiration from still-life depictions, landscapes, and city scenes of Cape Town and her travels around the world.
She received her BA Fine Arts degree from the University of Pretoria in 2016. She has exhibited around South Africa including Pretoria, Cape Town, and Port Elizabeth.

Maurice Mbikayi
Maurice Mbikayi was born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo in 1974. He graduated with a BA in Graphic Design (Advertising and Visual Communication), from the Academies des Beaux-Arts in Kinshasa. He completed his Master of Fine Arts degree (with distinction) in 2015 at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town.
He interrogates the proliferation of technological commerce in our geopolitical system. Technology’s reliance on mining for resources, for instance, has made African countries and their people vulnerable to resource extraction and low-wage labour abuse. Mbikayi collects remnants of this rapidly developing technology and incorporates them in his work, resulting in sculptures, photographs and performances that link the materials back to their political contexts.
He uses e-waste as a symbol of technology and its impact on communities.

We are Print Met Erika.
A small large format print company in the heart of Cape Town.
We print stickers and stuff. Any kind of stickers, big stickers, small stickers, really big stickers, and all sorts of stuff, too. We also specialise in poster printing and we can produce posters up to 1.3 meters wide and virtually any length.
We aim to produce quality products at affordable prices. With our no-waste policy, we sell stickers per running meter and cost accordingly. This means more stickers for less money.
Our range of self-adhesive vinyl decals and stickers can be used on various surfaces, from smooth walls to windows, mirrors, vehicles, packaging, and pretty much any other smooth and clean surface you can think of.

Educated in Fine Arts and metallurgy, I have honed my skills through over three decades of dedicated practice and experimentation with various materials, including Gold, Silver and gemstones. With a passion for combining traditional craftmanship with contemporary design, I create unique jewellery pieces that are functional as well as artistic.
My work often explores themes of nature and personal expression, making each piece not only a statement of style but also a reflection of deeper meanings.

Alice Fouche
Alice Fouche is a South African artist and painter. Alice studied Interior Architecture at Greenside Design College and soon realised that "straight lines" were not for her. Alice ventured into photography and loved it.
Alice then started exploring painting and has been practising as an abstract artist working mostly with oils.
Alice is known for her technique of applying layers and layers of heavy body texture in oils and creating a 3d effect with her work.
Alice loves using bold and bright colours in her art and is mostly inspired by all the photos of nature and herself.

Clair Harriman
I studied art in England, I did my A-levels in art and got an A,I started a diploma in art and design at The West Surrey College of Art and Design, but unfortunately, I didn't finish the course.
I came back to South Africa and three months later I fell pregnant with my son Connor, who is the light of my life. Being a single mum, I was unable to return to college and had to work to support myself and my son.
Many years later at the age of 45, I realized it was time to return my hand to the canvas and paintbrush, and have since been working on building a career as a professional artist, and loving every step.
I paint in a variety of styles ranging from portraits, Mexican style shadowboxes, stylized illustrative line work mostly women, Monkey Portraits, still life of flowers and vases and other things too. I am a very creative person.

Joel Mamboka
Joël Mamboka N’Kumu (b. 1990) is a mixed media artist who grew up in Kinshasha in the Democratic Republic of Congo and now lives and works in Cape Town. He uses oil paint, fabrics and found objects to create stories that exhibit a dynamic exploration of identity, culture and style that is deeply rooted in African heritage. His portraits often depict individuals in moments of joy, connection or introspection and he frequently uses vintage wallpaper textures with peeling surfaces and intricate designs to evoke nostalgia and a sense of history.

Sara Matt
My practice pertains to relation dynamics. It manifests as a series of constructed contexts and ephemeral experiences that many might deem to be yet another instance of art world bullshit. To me, they are sociological experiments which reconfigure people, spaces, rules and dynamics as a means to temporarily suspend reference to our default behavioural settings, or detach our conduct from predictable contexts.
My work occurs through the imposition of absurd rules or constraints, recontextualising familiar scenarios, or initiating my own contexts that reference, yet skew reality. Within these microcosms, including a fake funeral, silent party and contractual invitations to cross a line, participants confront the delicate tensions between vulnerability and control, exposure and invisibility, and intimacy and detachment that underlie our daily exchanges. By veering from our prescribed behaviour, my practice probes at how identities are constructed, manipulated and preserved by the standard choreography of social expectation and etiquette.
Through these relational mechanisms, my artworks investigate the human condition: a peculiar, often amusing, sometimes disheartening, and largely endearing concept, constructed and contorted by networks of customs, social codes and conventions of behaviour that are as compelling as they are invisible. I offer no conclusive answers, but rather act as a mirror: a way to observe others observing themselves that reflects back how we construct and maintain the fragile apparatus of self.

Ms Rafiki
Nicole Rafiki, known online as ms.rafiki, is a Congolese-born interdisciplinary visual artist, curator, and writer whose work combines photography, beadwork, textiles, and memorial objects
Rafiki (b.1989,DRC) is an artist and curator whose interdisciplinary artworks move between photography and bead work, textiles and text, and the use of memorial objects old and new.
Rather than producing finished products as an end result, Rafiki treats art-making as a practice of remembrance, healing, and cultural analysis.
Her images often employ artistic strategies that avert a western anthropological gaze.
Incorporating symbolisms, fables, and tools of visual storytelling and oral history, she invokes themes of forced migration and war ghosts, racialized perceptions of Blackness and femininity, and fraught colonial traditions of spatial power and temporal erasure. As a child of the Kongolese diaspora with local connections in various countries in Africa and Europe, she taps into pre-colonial forms of global interconnectedness and knowledge transfer.
Rafiki is the founder of Oslo-based platform Rafiki Art Initiatives (RAI).
